Lost in Love - This series is an autobiographical group of twelve paintings begun in 1998 and finished by spring, 2003. The series traces the rise and fall of a lost romance. The technique features multiple layers of acrylic, watercolor, and tempura washes that conceal an elaborate underpainting, and express the trials and passage of time of the relationship. The paintings are sealed with a layer of lacquer to enhance the depth of the images and demonstrate the finality, but are then etched down through the surface to recall the original lines of the shrouded figures, as if to grasp what's lost in the past. These paintings are custom framed to be backlit which illuminates the etched lines and underpainting, exhibiting the full gamut of emotion having and losing a great love.
